House Passes The Historic Health Care Reform Bill

The House passes the Senate health care bill. They needed 216 votes to pass the bill and they got 219 votes. All 178 Republicans opposed the historic health care reform legislation. The House then moved on to consider the reconciliation package.

Later Today A last moment deal on Sunday between President Obama and Democrat House members who oppose abortion clear the way for Congress to pass historic health care reform legislation. The house expecting to vote on health care reform later today.
Just a few hours before the scheduled vote, Obama announced he would issue an executive order to ensure that existing limits on federal funding of abortion remain in place under the health care reform bill. Just after the announcement anti-abortion group senator lead by Rep. Bart Stupak, D-Michigan decleared they would support the legislation. The support by Stupak and his anti-abortion colleagues was considered crucial for Democrats for the paggage of the bill.

Though House passes the historic health care reform legislation still they need approval from Senate. However, approval of the main Senate health care bill and Obama's signature would make the reform the law of the land, with or without the changes in the accompanying bill.

President Barak Obama is not planning to sign the bill tonight but he is planning to address the nation tonight.
