Dhaka, 25th March: The government has set up a much-awaited tribunal for 1971 war crimes today. They have also announced the investigative On 26th March the Intendance Day, Govt. urges help from main opposition party BNP for war crime tribunal. The government has requested information about war crimes from BNP.

LGRD minister & general secretary of the ruling Awami League, Syed Ashraful Islam requested the the opposition party to come forward with any information it had regarding war criminals and provide it to the government as the government is hoping to take further steps about 1971 war crime soon.

Syed Ashraful Islam, the LGRD minister said, “I think the opposition also wants the trial of war criminals to be held”, though BNP secretary general Khandaker Delwar Hossain expressed his confusion over transparency of war crimes trial process on Friday. About Delwar’s confusion about the transparency of war crimes trial process Syed Ashraful Islam demanded,” The trial will raise no questions. International standards will be maintained at every turn”

On Thursday The government declared much-awaited tribunal for 1971 war crimes. They announced the investigative agency and prosecution team. The Bangladeshi government has set up the tribunal to prosecute those accused of committing war crimes during the country's war of independence in 1971.

Some political and non-political organization including Bikalpadhara Bangladesh (BDB) president AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury, Dhaka University vice-chancellor AAMS Arefin Siddique welcomed the declaration of the tribunal.
