April 22nd, Bangladesh (Tazakhobor.Com): More than two lakh people in the Bhola 3 constituency will cast their vote today to elect their representative in the parliament, which was declared vacant by the Supreme Court last year. Awami League’s candidate Nurunnabi Chowdhury Shawon and the Bangladesh Nationalist Party’s (BNP) candidate M Hafiz Uddain Ahmed are the two mian contestant for the Bhola 3 parliamentary seat. Voting is scheduled to begin at 86 polling centres of two upazilas of Bhola, Lalmohan and Tajumaddin, from 8am lasting till 4pm on Saturday. Total of 234,926 voters are scheduled to cast their vote for their MP. The Election Commission has declared 52 of the 86 polling centres as vulnerable and has installed a number of security measures including closed circuit television, some 40 EC officials deployed as observers in plainclothes, 21 strike teams and 24 mobile teams led by executive magistrates. Though the opposition has made numbers of allegations that their polling agents are either being harassed or being threatened to leave the area , Election Commission demanded that they have taken enough security measure to make the election successful. Violence continued on the eve of the polls and the opposition candidate said 300 of his supporters had been injured by the Awami League. Hafiz also said 50 of them had been injured on Friday. On the other occasion the Rapid Action Battalion on Friday morning stopped central Bangladesh Nationalist Party leaders on their way to Lalmohan from the Bhola town at Kunjerhat of Borhanuddin saying the Election Commission had put a ban on the entrance of people without authorisation to the Bhola 3 constituency. BNP standing committee member Moudud Ahmed, vice-chairmen Abdullah Al Noman and Altaf Hossain Chowdhury and other central leaders and lawmakers reached Kunjerhat about 11:00am and the battalion personnel stopped them there by putting barricades on the road.
