June 21, (Tazakhobor.com): Lionel Messi marked his first match as Argentina captain with a win as they beat an ultra defensive Greece side 2-0 and cruised into the World Cup second round as Group B winners putting the Greeks out on Tuesday.
Argentina completed their third successive victory to finish top of the group with a maximum nine points and will play Mexico at Johannesburg’s Soccer City in the second round on Sunday.
Otto Rehhagel's Greece were dominated for the majority of the match and tried to hit Argentina on the counterattack. The Albiceleste proved to be too strong though and eventually cruised to a comfortable win.
Argentina coach Diego Maradona, who made seven changes to the side that trounced South Korea five days ago including resting usual captain Javier Mascherano, as usual danced with delight at the end of the match in celebration. Argentina will meet Group A runner up Mexico in the next round.

Argentina were marked out to be a disaster by many pundits at the start of the World Cup but they have been anything but. A 1-0 win against Nigeria in their opening game of the group was followed by a stupendous 4-1 defeat of South Korea in their second match, meaning that a draw will certainly take the Albiceleste through to the next round; in fact Argentina could lose and still qualify for the last 16 if Nigeria win or draw against South Korea in the other match.
On the other hand this is Greece's second World Cup, but unlike their debut this time the Europeans have been quite successful. At the moment Otto Rehhagel's side are third in Group B with three points from two matches. A win against Argentina on Tuesday evening could see Greece qualify for the last 16. Greece are level on points with South Korea, who have three points as well.
