Mobile-phone Users Have to Dial 00 to Make International Calls

June 29, Dhaka, Bangladesh (Tazakhobor.com): From Aug 1, mobile-phone users will have to dial 00 as a uniform international dialing code, instead of 012, before the country code to make international calls.

The charge & benefit of the 00 code will be the same as the rate for 012, the previous low-cost code, also known as economy international subscribers' dialing (EISD).
According to Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) chairman Zia Ahmed, they have reviewed all the international call rates and decided to bring under a single platform.
But subscribers of Bangladesh Telecommunications Company Ltd (BTCL), the state-owned landline phone operator have to wait a bit as it would take some time to adopt with the new system and have to use 012 for now.
According to the BTCL website economy international subscribers' dialing (EISD) covers around 55 countries and charges Tk 6/min to Tk 16.5/min.
