July 30, Dhaka, Bangladesh (Tazakhobor.com): The question paper of the 30th Bangladesh Civil Service preliminary examination, held throughout the country on Friday, contained several mistakes.

The test was held with three sets of question papers and set 2 contained eight errors in the organization of the English language test, , which created confusion among examinees.
The 30th BCS Preliminary test was held at 110 centers in six divisional headquarters with about 147,988 applicants vying for 2,572 posts under three cadres yesterday.
After the preliminary test, examinees who obtained the B set of English question papers were very confused as the accurate answer of one was missing and six questions were not preceded by a sentence which told the students what was wanted.
Many examinees also alleged that there were no accurate answers given for the question number 79 of the set, as it seeks the opposite word of ‘amicable’ and the options were: (A) Interesting; (B) loving; (C) affectionate; and (D) friendly, which are all synonyms, not antonyms, of ‘amicable’.
The same word was mentioned in Set-1 and 3 asking for synonyms with the same options.
In another instance, the instruction was not clear for the examinees on how to choose the best answer to the question No. 63. It appears that an instruction was written between questions 63 and 64.
Confusion also surfaced over choosing the closest meanings of idioms as the instruction for a series of questions -- 67, 68, 69 and 70 -- was wrongly placed. There was also no indication of what was wanted before question no 70. ‘One of the four sentences given in each question is grammatically wrong. That alternative is your answer’ was written before the questions 71, 72 and 73, but in reality questions of 72 and 73 were for the filling in the blanks.
Also the voice change section contained two questions on phrase. The phrase part had two questions, instead of three mentioned in the instruction. The other question asked the test-takers to choose the correct grammatical form.
Chairman Sa'dat Husain of Bangladesh Public Service Commission admitted that he had been informed of the errors and he also informed press that decision will be taken on the matter at the commission's meeting on Sunday.
