HC Issues Rule Against Jatio Party MP Gulam Reza

Aug 16, Dhaka, Bangladesh (Tazakhobor.com): The High Court on Monday issued a rule upon the Election Commission (EC) and the government and asked Jatiya Party MP HM Golam Reza to present his HSC certificate within four weeks.

A division bench of justices Mamnoon Rahman and Syeda Afsar Jahan issued the rule upon a writ petition file by Gabura Union Parishad chairman Safiul Azam. The petitioner claimed that the JP MP from Satkhira never passed the SSC exam.
The High Court issued a rule upon the Election Commission (EC) and the government to explain why the membership of AHM Gulam Reza, MP, (Satkhir-4 seat) of Jatiya Party should not be declared illegal for furnishing false statement during filling nomination paper. The court also asked Jatiya Party MP HM Golam Reza to present his HSC certificate within four weeks.
Chief election commissioner ATM Shamsul Huda, Golam Reza and three others were made respondents to the petition.
On Aug 2, the EC said it had nothing to do with Satkhira-4 MP HM Golam Reza as the complaint was not lodged during or immediately after the scrutiny of his nomination paper.
