Citing people involved in the investigation on Thursday, the New York Times reported that a top Chinese university as well as a Chinese military school is indentified as the primary suspect for recent cyber attacks on Google and 20 other American corporations which was made public last month.
People involved in the investigation told the New York Times that, the cyber attack may have started as early as April 2009 or earlier,  Shanghai Jiaotong University and the Lanxiang Vocational School are the two two Chinese School. According to New York Times Report,  investigators believe there is evidence suggesting a link to a computer science class at the vocational school taught by a Ukrainian professor.

Jiaotong Unitversity, “has one of China’s top computer science programs. Just a few weeks ago its students won an international computer programming competition organized by I.B.M. — the “Battle of the Brains” — beating out Stanford and other top-flight universities”, report says. And the Lanxiang School, whose network is run by Google competitor Baidu, often provides training to computer scientists for China’s military.

Google's director of corporate communications, Jill Hazelbaker, said “investigation is ongoing” and he denied further comments. Earlier this month Washington Post reported Google finalizing a deal with National Security Agency that would help to investigate a corporate espionage attack that may have originated in China. And also the US State Department lodge a formal complaint with Chinese officials about this Cyber Attack last month.

The Chinese schools were not immediately available for comment.
