Sher-e-Bangla Nagar thana refused to file FIR when ABM Ashraf Uddin Nizan, MP, went there o file a case against ADC Harun-ur-Rashid, AC Biplob Sarker and a score of other policemen for ‘attempt on the life of Farooque’.
Tanveer Hassan, a sub-inspector of Sher-e-Bangla Police Station, told reporters, "As there is already a case against Farroque, we can't lodge the case without permission from the higher authorities." But he said that, he had received the written complaint. The case would be registered after getting permission from the higher authority.
Opposition chief whip Joynul Abdin Farroque suffered head injuries in police beating in front of Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban at Manik Miah Avenue and later police filed a case on Wednesday midnight against Farroque, Syeda Asifa Ashrafee Papiya MP and some 10 other unnamed people.
Earlier of the day BNP lawmakers staged a sit-in at the east site of the parliament on Thursday demanding arrest and exemplary punishment of the policemen responsible for the attack on Opposition Chief Whip Zainul Abdin Farroque, who is now undergoing treatment at the United Hospital under police vigilance.
