Although some might thinks its a joke, but its real that PM Sheikh Hasina took a surprise move on Wednesday proposed that Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus be made the World Bank President, months after he was eased out as the head of the pioneering micro-lending 'Grameen Bank' following a protracted row with her government.

Many see it as a politically motivated move for Sheikh Hasina, as recently Dr. Yunus started to talk about Bangladesh Politics after a long MUM. "The Prime Minister has requested the European Union to use its good office for Dr Yunus for the presidency of the World Bank," a senior aide of Hasina said preferring anonymity.
The aide declined to elaborate further but the private UNB news agency, quoting a source familiar with her meeting with a visiting EU delegation said that Hasina, deviating from her harsh criticism of Yunus, appreciated his role in fighting poverty.
According to meeting sources, Hasina said Nobel Laureate Prof Muhammad Yunus is respected all over the world for his outstanding contribution towards alleviating poverty through microcredit activities.
She mentioned that the experience of Prof Yunus would be a valuable asset for the World Bank to expand its activities to different countries of the world.
The premier said the EU could persuade the concerned authorities to make Prof Yunus as the World Bank President for the welfare of the world.
She said the Nobel Laureate has vast experience to run a big institution like Grameen Bank and other organisations having excellent reputations in the world.
The World Bank said it plans to appoint a new President by the time of the annual spring meetings in April.
Current World Bank chief Robert Zoellick, who was appointed under a Republican President, said Wednesday he won't seek a second five-year term and plans to step down at the end of June.
The Bank said the selection process will be "merit-based and transparent" with all the executive directors able to nominate and consider all candidates. Nominations must be received by March 23. The board will then draw a shortlist of prospects for a formal interview process.
