On Sunday Authority destroyed at least 117,000 Chickens in Thakurgaon town, northern part of Bangladesh due to avian flu (bird Flu) outbreak. A local official said this outbreak of avian virus happened on one of the country's largest poultry farms. The deadly avian H5N1 flu virus was detected on Saturday. Thakurgaon district livestock chief Mosaddekur Rahman told at least 400 chickens died suddenly at the Kazi Farms complex in Thakurgaon town on Saturday. He reported “Tests confirmed presence of the H5N1 bird flu in 15 sheds of Kazi farm and we ordered destruction of all 117,600 layer chickens.” General manager of Kazi Farms Ataur Rahman informed another 200,000 eggs had also been destroyed in the single largest outbreak of bird flu in the country. He reported the loss will be more than 400 million taka (six million dollars) for this deadly virus outbreak. Source: The China Post
