The cabinet on Monday approved the draft of multi-level marketing (MLM) Control Act 2012.
According to the draft government has included the provisions of a maximum five-year jail term and fine for cheating and doing business without license. Now if any MLM company is proven to deceive any person into investing into the business, it has to pay twice the amount it obtains out of cheating.
The MLM companies will also be punished for six-month to one-year jail and up to Tk 50,000 fine if they sell any unauthorized products.
Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan, the Cabinet Secretary briefed journalists after the meeting.
