Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, the acting secretary general of BNP alleged that the ruling party men are plundering thousands crores of taka from the state-owned banks as they did during the 1972-75 period.
Speaking in a discussion at Engineers’ Institute in the city, marking the 4th jail release day of party vice-chairman Tarique Rahman, Mirza Fakhrul said, “the incidents of looting money from state-owned banks have started coming to light. Hallmark plundered three and a half thousands crores of taka from Sonali Bank. Similarly, the ruling party men have looted money from other state-owned banks.”
Accusing the government of having its hands behind the Hallmark loan scam, Fakhrul said the Awami League men had looted money from banks during its 1972-75 tenure the same way.
Depicting the country’s sordid state, he urged all to intensify the oust-government movement to save it from the misrule of the present regime.
