Mufti Fazlul Haque Amini, chairman of a faction of Islami Oikya Jote, died (innalillah...) of cardiac arrest at the city’s Ibn Sina Hospital on Tuesday night. He was 69.
Amini was an Islamist politician and Hanafi Islamic Scholar, served as a MP on the Parliament of Bangladesh from 2002 to 2007. He was the Vice Chancellor of Jamia Qurania Arabia Lalbagh, Dhaka.
Islami Oikya Jote spoke person Mowlana Wales informed press that Mufti Amini breathed his last breath at 12;15 AM.
Mowlana Wales said, Mufti Amini was attending a party meeting just after the Esha prayer when he felt chest pain. He was then provided primary treatment. But as his condition worsens he was then taken to IBNE Sina hospital, where he passed away at around 12:15 AM.
He left his wife, 2 sons and 4 daughters.
Fazlul Haque Amini, who was a key ally of opposition BNP was kept in house arrest for last one year.
