Metropolitan Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested two suspected killers of Biswajit Das from Ashulia on early Wednesday.
Although Police didn’t officially confirmed the news, however police sources revealed that the detainees are Obaidul Quader and Kibria alias Shakil.
Sources said the two accused were arrested through tracking their mobile phones.
Officer-in-charge of Ashulia police station Sheikh Badrul Alam said he heard from different sources that Shakil and Obaidul were arrested. “The Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) might have arrested them,” he said.
Expressing his ignorance, Dhaka district DB OC Wahiduzzaman said the DMP detectives might have arrested them.
Contacted, DMP deputy commissioner (PR) Masudur Rahman said he was not aware of the arrest of the duo.
According to different media reports, the duo had involvement in the gruesome murder of Biswajit.
Meanwhile, Jagannath University authorities on Wednesday expelled three students and cancelled certificates of two others for their alleged involvement in Bishwajit killing.
Three expelled students are Obhidul Quader, 4th year student of psychology, Meer Md Noore Alam, 4th year student of Political Science, and Md Rafiqul Islam, 2nd year student of Islamic History.
The university authorities also cancelled the certificates of Emdadul Haque, a masters' final-year student of philosophy, and Md Mahfuzur Rahman, a masters' final-year student of Bangla.
Biswajit, a tailoring shop employee, was hacked to death reportedly by the activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League near Victoria Park under Sutarapur police station on Sunday during the BNP-led 18-party-sponsored countrywide road blockade programme.
Earlier on Tuesday Police said that eight people were arrested in connection with the killing of tailor Bishwajit Das.
