The city turned into battleground as activists of Islamists parties locked into fight with law enforcers in differnet parts of the city including Baitul Mukarram mosque area.
They locked into clashes with the law enforcers at the premises of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque, Jatiya Press Club, and Paltan and Shilpakala Academy areas.
Thousands of activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and other Islamists parties brought out a procession from south gate of the Baitul Mukarram mosque after the Juma prayers.
Police fired teargas shells and rubber bullets to disperse the activists. So far atleast 100 injured and 1 died in the clash.

Seven journalists sustained bullet injuries as the activists of some pro-Jamaat Islamic parties and police exchanged several rounds of bullet in city’s Paltan area on Friday noon.
Of the injured, four are Masudur Rahman of Gazi TV, Arifuzzaman Pias of Channel 71, Nurul islam of Independent TV, Mir Ahmed Miru of Amar Desh.
The injured journos were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital and other private clinics.
Some cops also received injuries after being hit by piece of bricks, a spot account said.
Protesters tried to move towards Shahbagh. But, police managed to disperse them.
At one stage, they locked into a clash with police. The law enforcers and the extremists exchanged several rounds of fire that left seven journalists injured.
Besides, the agitating devotees exploded cocktails targeting the law enforcers.
In other cities of the country including Chittagong and Khulna the Islamist groups locked into clash with police. They also broke several Ganajagoron Mancho In differet parts of the country.
