At least 21 activist of Jamaat-e-Islami suffered bullet wounds when
police opened fire on a procession of Jamaat-Shibir at Maghbazar area of
the capital Dhaka.
Eyewitness informed press that at around 8:00 AM on the Independence Day Jammat-Shibir activists and supporters bring out a independent day procession and law enforcers put barricade and tried to resist them to proceed.
At one point the agitating activists locked into clash with law enforcers.
To disperse the activists the enforcers charged baton and opened fire to the activists.
Sources said, the law enforcers used several round of shot-gun bullet to disperse them, which left at least 21 injured.
Jammat sources demanded that at the 21 people are their activists. Police picked up at least 7 Jamaat-Shibir activists from the spot.
