A Georgian court has fined football star turned opposition member Kakha Kaladze $10.3 million which is equivalent to 8.4 million euros in a case which the retired Champions League winner claims is politically motivated.
Tbilisi City Court fined the football player. The court said it fined Kaladz because he withdrew $2 million from his bank accounts without supplying required information about how the money was spent.
The verdict came just a day after government official became suspicious that he could be illegally funding the opposition ahead of parliamentary polls in October.
The court also ordered to impound Kaladzes assets, including company shares and property.
